VERTICAL BLINDS
Machine Washing Instructions for Machine Washable Fabrics (Ask your local consultant on whether your Vertical Drapes are Machine Washable)
STEP ONE
Louvres should carefully be removed from the headrail, one at a time. Weights and chains should be taken from the louvres.
STEP TWO
The louvres are to be placed together onto a flat, clean surface so that the top hem of each louvre is just below the previous one. Line the louvres up straight and smooth each one out as it is put in place.
STEP THREE
The louvres are now loosely rolled together. Care must be taken to keep edges in line, to prevent creasing.
STEP FOUR
If the finished roll is more than 200mm (8”) in diameter, then the louvres need to be divided into smaller sets, the procedure repeated for each set.
STEP FIVE
Each roll should be tied firmly without distorting the fabric.
STEP SIX
Place one roll inside a pillow case to secure it.
STEP SEVEN
One roll to be washed at a time. Since spinning may cause damage to the louvre, the machine MUST NOT BE ALLOWED TO SPIN. The washing machine is to be set for Woollens at 30 Degrees Centigrade. A mild soap can also be used, but NOT a detergent. On certain Washing Machines, where the above instructions are not possible, the alternative is to give a gentle, 30 Degrees Centigrade wash with three rinse cycles. NEVER use a stronger chemical such as bleach. This may do irreparable harm to the louvre.
STEP EIGHT
Roll to be removed from the washing machine, then from the pillow case and leave in its tied state standing on end for an hour. This will allow excess water to drain away.
STEP NINE
Untie the roll and hang the louvres separately to drip dry. Place the weights back onto the louvres. Do not position louvres in direct sunlight until dry.
STEP TEN
Louvres must be dried naturally. DO NOT TUMBLE DRY, DO NOT IRON, OR DRY THE LOUVRES BY PLACING OVER A RADIATOR OR SIMILAR HEAT SOURCE. Once dry re-hang the louvres carefully.
